Harrogate Housing Association, a small but expanding housing association with 280 assets, has implemented MIS-AMS ActiveH Lite, as a Managed Cloud Service, to eliminate the worry of disaster recovery for its data. The new solution includes modules for rent, CRM, reporting and repairs – with plans to implement tenant communication via SMS.

“We’re a small, lean housing association with growth plans - but at present we don’t have any in-house IT personnel,” explains Steve Brook, chief executive of Harrogate Housing Association.

“Working via an outsourced model for IT support but reliant on my own servers at the office means restoring our data in the event of a disaster would not be straight forward. Moving to a managed service with MIS-AMS ActiveH Lite means that although the worry of disaster doesn’t go away, at least I know recovery of a key system will be much faster and easier.”

“Working with MIS-AMS also means we have a GDPR compliant system and the confidence that we’re always on the latest version of the software with no need to manually upgrade – a problem with our previous system. We also eliminate the cost of hardware and the headache of maintaining it too – so choosing to work with MIS-AMS has been a cost-effective, value for money winner.”

The new solution will also help Harrogate HA with additional functionality and a smarter way of managing repairs and maintenance on its properties – a task that had previously been done via spreadsheets which simply wasn’t scalable for the future.

“We added 34 new properties to our portfolio last year, and we have plans to grow further, so we needed housing management technology that could scale with us,” adds Steve.

“With the new system in place we are working towards improved management of repairs, a clearer knowledge of customer communications, additional functionality in terms of a plan for SMS communications with customers and a general all-round improved customer service experience as we grow.

“With the support of MIS-AMS we moved all our transactions from our old system to ActiveH Lite together with the customer contact history which has been invaluable in ensuring we maintain the customer experience. ”

Chris McLaughlin, managing director, MIS-AMS said: “For a housing association the size of Harrogate, ActiveH Lite has many of the bells and whistles of the full system but at a more cost-effective price point – but what it really delivers is the ability to implement a system that can scale with the organisation over time.

“Choosing a hosted system also means that the time, effort and cost of managing hardware or worrying about things as important as compliance and disaster recovery are taken care of and Steve and his team can get back to doing what they do best – looking after their customers and properties.”
